I Saw God Today

I Saw God Today

Usually when I work I think about Jesus, his great creative power, his love for us, his care and watchfulness over me.  But today I had a vision of what God the Father is like.  This morning when I met the Range Rider I found he had brought his four year old son to work with us today.  He helped his son get ready for the day.  From the beginning the Rider considered his son.  He had a wonderful kids’ horse that the child could easily handle.   The Father had prepared for his son’s success in every way.  The child had a small saddle that fit him and the Dad made sure his son was comfortable.

As the day progressed I was impressed by the questions the boy asked and how his father answered them all with total seriousness.  At lunch time the Father settled his son on the grass and brought out a special lunch his wife had prepared.  After lunch the Father and Son needed to move a few cattle over

the ridge to an ungrazed area.  I watched in wonder as the Son followed his Fathers instructions and helped to move the cows.

A little later while we were measuring grass in the last transect the Father asked me, “Did you notice how well Jacob sits his horse?”

“Yes, I noticed,” I replied.

I had noticed many things.  How the big powerful Father had his son’s safety and comfort always in first place.  I noticed how the Father glowed with pride at his son’s accomplishments. I remembered the verse in the Bible, when Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River:

 Matthew 3:17:

“And a voice from Heaven said, “This is my Son whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

This day, I realized is a picture of how God the Father felt about his only begotten son Jesus.

John 3:16:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17, For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

Dare we ignore such a precious gift?
